Senior Lecturer, Department of Physics, University of SurreyDick Bacon is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Physics at the University of Surrey. He has been involved in the use of technology in education for over 15 years having been Director of the Physics Centre of the Computers in Teaching Initiative until its demise 1999, and also Director of a major Physics project (SToMP) under the Teaching and Learning Technology Programme (Phases 1, 2 and 3). Since 2001 he has been working with others in the CETIS assessment special interest group on the interpretation and implementation of QTI version 1, and on numeric extensions to match the requirements of the Sciences. More recently he has contributed to the integration of some of these concepts into the second version of the QTI specification.
